Anat Baniel Method sessions involve gentle touch and guiding movements executed with close attention to what you feel. Through these explorations, your brain “wakes up” to itself, becoming aware of how it interacts with other parts of the body and the outer world. As this process unfolds, the brain organizes the various sensations into meaningful patterns of experience, with which it spontaneously discovers new solutions that contribute to easier movement as it becomes better organized. A vital aspect of the practitioner’s role in this process is to convey the experience of safety and ease, which enables your brain to operate in learning mode, exploring new possibilities. The practitioner intentionally avoids forcing you beyond your range of comfort, as this would shift your brain into protective mode, when its ability to acquire new advanced skills is vastly reduced. ABM is free of coercion, the purpose is to bring awareness of how you are moving or acting. Such awareness suggests and opens paths toward alternatives.
